ALL PEOPLE – COMMUNICATE – EP

About

release #028
released January 18. 2013

Honesty. Above all else, that is the word that represents this debut EP from New Orleans based All People. Despite our collective reservations and fears born of our own dreams and ambitions leading up to writing this record, the final documentation can only be described as pure energy as a result of teamwork. Most of everything you hear on this record was recorded live with all four members in one room, feeding off the energy of having just spent a weekend in the woods together writing the album. This collection of 8 tracks is indeed an ALBUM and should be approached as such: 22 minutes of nonstop music, thoughtfully sequenced by it’s creators to provide a window into their view of the world in which we live.

Our project is a refection of the music and sounds that we enjoy: atmospheric dub reggae, expressive punk, abrasive hardcore, afro-beat rhythm, poetry, and mindful lyrics. We did our best to create a realm where all of our passions and ideas could be expressed and enjoyed. This album is our first attempt to document that realm and present it to our friends to hear. Thanks for being here with us.

This album is available on 12 inch vinyl, CD, and free MP3 formats.

lyrics:

sometimes i want what i want so bad, i’m blinded. sometimes i want what i want so bad i’m blinded to what i have. step easy, go easy, step strongly, go strongly. we got what we got we got. we have all that we need. sometimes i want what i want so bad, i’m blinded. sometimes i want what i want so bad i’m blinded to what i have.

tonight i’ve got to be loud. amplify the burning amplify the sound. amplify the burning. amplify the burning. it will happen one day at a time with others in mind, with others in mind. looking at the lines on this list. the letters described scribbled down and organized, then slashed into pieces. slashed into pieces. refilled each night with every thought. it will happen one day at a time with others in mind, with others in mind. sometimes i feel sick, when i feel like this, but i know it’s this sickness that keeps me alive, i know it’s this sickness that keeps me alive, the drive to know that others will survive. we’re not looking for the credit, or even for the cash. we are only looking to make an impression that will last. we are only looking to make an impression that will last.

it came from the future where everyone is free. controlled by a computer, it destroyed my family. divorced from humanity. impregnate. my home is gone. where will your intentions lead me? i think you’re wrong. drag us along. each step of the way we become more useless. oh not again, we want you out. our suffering will not go unnoticed. still you march on unhindered. it came from the future, where God’s a selfish man. said i wouldn’t understand.

no more forced relaxation, this is my realization, i’ve tried and tried to push it through, and now the joke’s on you. what we perceive is fleeting, you can take none with you. layers of tension, in my back. maintenance is my path, blocking out all the fear, and move along, move along, walk strong. what we perceive is fleeting, you can take none with you.

nothing interesting bout industry. i look around me and all that i see, are cheaply made apartment buildings, construction workers and lost souls. hopeful families tried to keep it together. swallowed up in the mess of things. all we need is more and more money, how can i get it more and more money? i look out onto the horizon. i see more people just like me, i know you see, you see what i see, frustrated with the state of things. don’t forget the lies that you’re told, that you’ll make it and it won’t grow old. you won’t grow tired of the same old thing, will i grow tired of the same old thing? all we need is more and more money, how can i get it more and more money?
