Stuck Lucky – Block Party 2012 feature

Have you ever allowed your half-naked, sweaty body to melt into the others around you
to form an angry, ecstatic, energy-filled ball of flesh? If not, you must not have ever
been to a Stuck Lucky show. For the better part of a decade, they have been exploding
basements and stages alike, leaving those who survive exhausted and gasping for air.
From “Hate The Light of Day” to “Dry Drowning,” they have evolved from insidiously fast
punk/ska to a folk-induced form of metal/grunge/punk that leaves me searching for the
words to describe its majesty. Somehow, this stylistic stew of awesomeness works all
too well together, and manages to keep the energy flowing from the stage (or the floor
on which their amps rest) like the water over Niagara Falls.

I have had the pleasure of spending a lot of time on the road with these dudes, traveling
the country, making new friends, blowing some minds, taking our twenty bucks, finding
a floor to crash on, and partaking in the communal burrito dinners. There was maybe
one or two nights in the total 30+ shows I’ve played with them that didn’t end in chaos. I
really miss them, and I can’t wait to take off my shirt, jump in the pit, and get crazy
during their set. Watching them play with your arms across your chest isn’t enough. I
hope you all jump in with me.

Stuck Lucky plays last this year at 11:30pm.

So exited for these guys. OMG OMG. I’m excited for every band playing, if I had to make a list. Stuck Lucky is definitely up there.

  2. My only regret is not being able to see them in New Orleans. I have enjoyed every one of their shows I have attended and love to see the energy they share with the audience. I may be prejudiced, but I don’t care. These guys are great!
